Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins (born in Mexico) is an Mexican American journalist. She currently works as an ESPN sportscaster. ESPN and is anchor for SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. Since 2016, Collins has was a part of ESPN. Her mother is television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is a bilingual woman and has been since her age of nine. The ability to speak two languages allowed her to land her first job with Univision, Miami. She was able to work with national producers on programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Her first job was as a reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate following that. She moved in 2009 into Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as a news reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. The stories she covered were about the issue of immigration and trafficking drugs in both Texas as well as Mexico. In addition, she was an anchor for anchors of sports and weather forecasters. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate where she took on additional responsibility. She wrote on sports like the NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. Also, she produced Univision 23's local sports program Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she acted as anchor. She was promoted to sports anchor on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In addition, she served as anchor of the sports segment on Primer Impacto, a magazine program on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents are from Veracruz Mexico. She was born November 22, 1985 in Mexico City. There is also a younger sibling. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and eventually settled in Miami. Her parents divorced soon after and, in 1995, she was married a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. While on a vacation Antonietta was staying at the home of her sister in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins brother had recently been offered an offer to work. Antonietta, a high-school senior who had a vision of how she wanted her future to be, visited Mount Union University to determine if the school suited her. In the end, she loved the campus and the university offered the major she was looking for. When she finished her high school education, she chose to go to the university with a major with Media Studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU in which she is a member. They had a very close connection. Mark Bergmann inspired her to be self-confident and his enthusiasm for journalism deeply affected her. She, determined to live up to his standards and never fail him.
